"All true biologists deserve the coveted name of naturalist. The touchstone of the naturalist is his abiding interest in living nature in all its aspects." -- Frederick Gowland Hopkins (1936)

First Quarter Project

1 Obtain TEN (10) different BOTANICAL species from nature and catalogue according to common name and, if possible, according to genus and species name. To perserve, press with wax paper, contact paper or an other creative method.

2 Obtain TEN (10) different INVERTEBRATE species from nature. Arthropod species are the best to work with. Catalogue according to common name, and if possible, according to genus and species name. Preserve with clear nail polish or hair spray and pin to thick cardboard. Clear, well-focused photographs may be substituted for actual specimens. If you use photographs you must include a scale factor.

3 Presentation of project should be creative as possible.

4 Write 2 or 3 paragraphs about your experience with this project. Relate it to your own relationship with nature.

5 See Moodle for due date.
